Since 01.01.2013 in connection with the introduction of the system of electronic verification of rights of beneficiaries (eWUŚ), the verification of patients' rights is carried out each time before the service on the basis of the PESEL number. In the case of a child under 3 months of age who may not yet have their own PESEL number, the right to benefits is confirmed by the PESEL number of the child's parent or guardian.
If there is no entry in the system, the patient, if he/she confirms his/her insurance, will have the possibility to fill in a statement of the patient's right to health care services. On this basis, the patient can be admitted free of charge on a given day for a service contracted with the NFZ. Therefore, having a current insurance document with you is not required. In the registration, the patient presents an identity document (identity card, passport, driving licence, in the case of persons studying up to 18 years of age, a school ID card and a biometric ID card in the case of children) together with their PESEL number.
